Beware of alcohol, the single most abused substance in the history of mankind! A trail of tears and death that litter the centuries with the bones of dead men.

This thread in response to the thread titled Beware of weed.

All intoxicants have their drawbacks. Some kill us slowly enough that we don’t notice.

We start to die slowly the moment we are born.

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?

I drink Coors Light once on each day between Friday and Sunday. I drink wine only on special occasions. I drink only the good stuff.

Why? I like my beers, my burbon, my scotch. I do drink and smoke and eat junk food and so on. I live a very unhealthy life. I am totally aware of this. So what?

Not telling you how to live but if you can see the unhealthy life style why not change that? Think long term.

Hey Muglintar, when you adopt cleaner living that little voice of “aware” falls deafeningly silent and your mind is onto other things that gnaw on your conscience. Each sacrifice gives you peace of mind.

Plus your health will improve giving you an over all feeling of inner peace.

They don’t call it “struggling with <incert your vice> for nothing, even when you’re not trying to quit your mind is locked into a struggle trying to rationalize self destructive behavior. Trust me, I know first hand all about destructive behavioral patterns…

I only hope some of my experiences help men in the battle against self destruction.

When it comes to being aware of it at the minimum you should just be aware of the potential health issues that can be caused by it and not just stop drinking or smoking entirely.

Like if you smoke cigarettes you should realize that over time they will damage you and could shorten your life however that is a choice for you to make and not us and it is the same with drinking.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

As long as you understand your OWN problems with those substances you should be fine.
I had trouble with alcohol (Drinking twice a week, not huge amounts, but it became a habit) so I decided to see how bad was it.
No alcohol, no smoking 3 months.
Well, its actually easy for me, but its easy to fall into the trap of “since its easy I dont need to do it”.

So I decided to change this:
Every month I DONT drink AT ALL, I can to buy myself a “expensive” bottle of something (I Can does not mean I do).

Im starting to save money thanks to that since I have 3 bottles of alcohol I am not touching so no point in buying more.
