So two months ago I made this thread: /forums/topic/im-going-for-it-best-shape-of-my-life/

Now at that stage I didn’t look particularly cut or anything around my mid-section- which is what I mentioned there. I weighed 178lbs.

However, yesterday I caught sight of myself in the mirror. I’ve done it! I’ve removed the last bit of fat from around my stomach! I don’t often look at myself in the mirror, but what caught my eyes was that I was completely toned, just the way I wanted! So, I decide to get out the scale, since I had not weighed myself since that day, because for me, I have the rule that I will not weigh myself every few seconds. I just continue working hard, and forgot about weighing.

    I now weigh 195lbs.

Now, to me, this was mind-blowing. I’ve cut that fat that was around my mid-section and added 17lbs of muscle?! Of course, I worked out 5 days a week, alternating between running, weight lifting, stretching, eating right, etc, but not even I expected this.

And some facebook tumblrina has the nerve to say “OMG wai am I so fat!?!?!?!?!!

perhaps my new year’s resolution should be to improve my fitness.

    That great man.

I’ve been divorced about a year and I started last Feb getting back in shape. I’m the same, don’t get on the scale, heck I don’t even own a scale. The difference is in the mirror and clothing.

Consistency is key, makes all the difference, keep up the good work!.

I’m working on it now too. Not working real hard so far because I don’t want to break anything. I’ve always been more on the skinny side, so I’m looking to add a little muscle before I get too old. I’m not in the best shape of my life, but a lot better than 2 years ago. I’d like to be in better shape at 60 than I was at 50, and I think that is doable. It may even be easy if I don’t f~~~ my back up again, but that’s another story.

Congratulations on your successes Jack(inov)! It’s suprising what you can achieve when you chip away at something often. Those little habits suddenly become great achievements.

I too have made progress in sculpting my body. My arms, lats and chest are visibly bigger than they previously were, just from bodyweight training and eating solidly for a month.

One grain of salt at a time, one task (rep) at a time.

For all you older guys looking for inspiration Google Mike Joplin. He’s about 70 years old and has an amazing physique which he built from being a skinny fella and has gone through body transformations multiple times. All through bodyweight exercises.

Good job man. I started a powerlifting routine 6 weeks ago. I am seeing results already. I just wish I could eat better. That’s my biggest problem. I want to get rid of that last bit of fat. It’s so hard to do. I really need to cut out bread and junk food I just hope I can do it. What is the purpose of working out if you are going to be fat and strong? I just want to be strong. Wish me luck, I need it.

I actually have a bit more fat than usual for me, and I like it. It’s not much, but it’s kind of a novelty. I was underweight, and worried a bit that I’d be screwed if I got sick or something and needed some reserves. I expect it will come off after the winter is done and I get back to walking around more.
It also makes it a bit easier for a skinny (hard gainer) guy to add muscle if you have a little extra fat, or so I’ve been told. Quite different from starting out overweight, when you can add muscle and lose fat at the same time. My brother went through a full cycle a while back. He went from about 170 lbs. all the way up to about 230 (muscle and fat) then went for the cut and ended up about 200 lbs. and looking like a warrior. He’s still about 200 at 6’2 and 50 years old.
