No disrespect meant to our younger brothers – I am watching the ranks of my fellow coworkers who are over 50 like myself dwindle. They’re being replaced by a group under 30 that works 8 hrs and no more. I put in no less than a 55 hour week. They then expect to be hired at top salary.
I’m an experienced transportation and international trade analyst with over 30 years in the field. I cut my teeth loading trucks, breaking my back in warehouses for nearly a decade learning all areas of the business and put myself through school at night. These snowflakes mostly never dirtied their hands – got their liberal arts degrees paid for by parents and some make more than I with no experience!
They’ll lay off one of us olders and say ” budget issues ” then 2 weeks later bring in one of these slackers with made up job titles -no one knows what they do all day. Sucks.

Seen it, Lived it. Once you’re past 30 you are on death row, unless highly skilled.

Had a young ambitious broad at work playing every trick in the backstabbing book to get ahead. Management love her. She take the easy contracts and palms off the problem accounts to the guys like me.

She took a year off to have a kid. We didn’t miss her. She came back and was in everyone’s face grabbing as many accounts as she could. She was supposed to cover me on my days off, but ended up poaching my accounts. Basically put me out of work.

Anyway, recently we had a pay review, and I heard she was spitting feathers about how she didn’t get the raise she deserved. Now she avoids accounts that are in her area if she can. She doesn’t want anymore work, after grabbing all the work she could to make herself indispensable. Ended up asking to have the accounts she had stolen re-distributed to the other guys.

I enjoy watching her work late to keep up for the same salary as the other guys. You wanted it sister. Now the late Baby nights are catching up and the Wall approaches fast.

Asked me once why I didn’t work more hours to earn more money? I said I don’t need it and I have no debt. She said “but what about the luxuries you could afford to buy?” She couldn’t comprehend that these things mean nothing to me. I prefer my freedom to trinkets to impress others.

There will always be more luxuries to lust after. The demand never ends. And so the work can never end

    To the grave.

Right on Greg. I do not normally talk personal finances in the office. One day I slipped. I mentioned I had no debt and tens of thousands saved up. I am the lowest paid employee and have been treated differently since. /jealousy?/ All the bitches do is talk about what they are going to buy next. I know why the shoes she just ordered came to the office and not to her home. Don’t we all?

I’m a millennial (Gen Y). I can attest to my generation’s s~~~ty work ethic. The CEO actually hired me due to my punctuality, and professionalism. I got a raise this year due to my diligence. I’m currently in graduate school, and going to night classes. I’m the youngest person in administration at my company. I’m also the only millennial throughout the corporation pursing my graduate degree. These pussy millennials don’t have s~~~ on me, yet they want my income and my job. They bitch about getting a simple associates degree. They bitch about the “long” hours. They bitch about me behind their back. They will bitch about anything.

My generation is full of entitled, bitching cup cakes.

This seems to be my observation as well.

I myself am a millennial in my 30s, and I actually tried out this online program that talked a bit about the different generations of society, which are the generation y(millennials), generation x(people who were born before 1980), the baby boomers and the traditionalists. In that program, they were saying how the traditionalists and baby boomers had great work ethic, how the generation x is like the abandoned generation, and how the generation y people are so crazy that companies have to give them perks and benefits just to keep the good gen y people in their companies so that the company as a whole can prosper easier since a lot of generation y people were raised with technology which means that they can bring a lot of new ideas to the company.

age discrimination is running rampant right now, if you’re a middle age man and get laid off, you’re f~~~ed especially if you live in a highly populated area where they can hire a snowflake at half the salary and they’re a dime a dozen.

As you age and loose your jobs, you need to move more and more to less populated areas where people with your higher level of skill have less competition and are more sought after because everyone else around is a stupid idiot.

That’s how I ended up here, half a mile from the middle of nowhere in a small podunk town. I left the state I lived in because the age discrimination was so blatantly obvious people should have been sued, I”m a ‘GenX’ by the way. And don’t try and go into an interview in a suit and tie anymore or with grey hair or anything that would make you look older than 25 years old. Seriously it’s so f~~~ing stupid trying to find work, there are too many f~~~ing people in this world now.

The best pathway through life now is to graduate, get a job, learn a skill, become an expert and build contacts during your employed years, use that to get your own side thing going so by the time you’re 35/40 and get laid off, you can work for yourself and shove your middle finger up ‘the mans’ ass.

If you can objectively prove ageism, you can sue the s~~~ out of that employer. If you see this, do something about it ASAP!

All those displaced old women will be needing husbands to support them. Ourtime..com will be swelling with new sign ups. Tinder will look like a wrinkled sheet sale. Storm is coming.

If this is the case then the original poster’s Company is shooting it self in the Dick firing older guys who work their ass off for cheaper millennial’s. One would imagine with this generation coming up under us that we would in fact have job security.

I guess when the millennial’s don’t work out They’ll just completely offshore the jobs to India.
