yes, this is exactly why I still hope to keep most everything I own off-line

…what I mean is that even the video game consoles are online for most part
that constant connection is something I need to deal with .. i prefer most of my life to be isolated
but that’s getting difficult
… even my wireless rf power meter on the grid .. outside the house .. is telling power company when I use more or less
they can then match that info up to data and basically see exactly what I’m doing and what appliance I’m using
.. and when .. they are watching me and storing every watt I use .. they know when I’m washing clothes, they even know when my furnace is cycling on and off, and if two or three appliances are running .. they can easily decipher which they are .. to the microsecond .. i’ve seen charts posted online that show just how much they know
and it’s scary stuff ..
I just hope that in future .. the manufacturers of the higher caliber Bots with AI .. or house mates .. or whatever one calls them … will have them designed so they don’t need constant web connection for the AI .. otherwise, I’m not buying .. I don;t want anything constantly connected .. for that matter, I will likely be totallyoff grid by that time, Power, Web, Water .. phone ..

… and what really scares me .. what keeps me awake at night…….
…… the fact that it wouldn’t take a very advanced wattage usage comparison program .. “if they so desire”
to determine if I was using a PS4 Pro or a PS4 Slim .. each gives off a perfect wattage fingerprint when the power turns on
and add a video game … any video game …. where the wattage changes over time .. of the display screen is a perfect indicator when added to the console power requirements
so they can know (or could know if they choose to do so) within a moment of time whether I’m playing .. Red Dead Redemption 2 or Detroit become human and because the screen wattage drain changes with each passing scene .. exactly what point of the game I’m at. All it will take (someday) is real time wattage data compared to a library of devices. Better than a fingerprint and 100% reliable.

….. in Experimental Organic Chemistry class we were given a little vile of clear liquid, it could have been almost anything .. even water, and our assignment was to determining what it was. I was wondering how I’d ever get through this difficult task and where would I even begin? Would I have to do some kind of lab tests and eventually guess?
There were no rules as to how we could determine what it was .. we could use smell, anything .. we could even ask anyone for help, anyone who could help .. if they were willing. It was open book, anything goes and they just wanted us to be creative and find the solution.
I had a school friend who was taking advanced chemistry and was tutor so he had access to some fancy lab equipment including an NMR Spectroscopy Machine that can read the sample and print out what could be called a graph of the “inner magnetic workings” of the liquid.
We did that and got a graph .. it only took the computer a second or two to tell me my sample was “acetone” by comparing the graph to a library of data. The sample evaporated very quickly on contact with air .. and also had the characteristic smell so I knew at that point it was correct along with the graph.
This same graphing of electrical wattage usage over time .. will someday tell the power company, and whoever they report to .. everything they need to know .. everything .. including what brand of refrigerator is sitting in the kitchen.
