The forces of nature are very strong, believe me. The younger we are, the more difficult it is to subdue our natural instincts. Perfection is something we all strive for, but very difficult to achieve. I think our continued efforts to reach a certain level of refinement in our lives is perfection in itself.

Balance is key, no matter how we achieve it. We have to continue to fine tune our methods based on the results we are getting from our actions. Mindfulness is something which we should all practice as it has proved to be a very useful method for myself. Many of the answers we seek are already in our thoughts – we just need to scrutinize objectively.

I do what is necessary to the situation.

Not everything we think is necessary is.

Like you said, we have to find that out for ourselves through constant experimentation.

    self acceptance is key.
we can beat ourselves for our very nature,
or accept it and handle it .
do what works and keep an ear out for new ways to deal w things..

When it comes to subdueing your lower natures: I read that thoughts dont belong to us, we dont create them, they merely enter our mind. You emphasized mindfullness and thats exactly right. But watch what thoughts enter your head and if they arent any good then be rid of them. Thats the power of lucidity, of mindfulness. Dont let your mind wander the wrong direction.

A Clockwork Orange comes to mind. I’d like to read the book someday, as while the movie was good, adaptions never seem as introspective.

Many tend to think that just because we’ve moved beyond sticks and stones and the like, that we are more civilized than our fellow animals. Sure enough, there’s plenty proof of that. Other works like Gulliver’s Travels or Planet of the Apes come to mind, but the point is clear there are night and day differences.

Even so, just as we’ve come to see with hypergamy, our reptilian brains are still very much here to stay – they simply find new ways to manifest despite our efforts to transcend them. I doubt that we will ever be rid of any of it, and to shun it entirely would probably be a bad thing to do.

So I agree that balance is necessary, just difficult to decide how that should be done. MGTOW has to be learned when being blue pill is largely the natural state, as it’s been made to for a very long time. We can’t change our instinct, but it is possible to have discipline. It’s why I’ve taken an interest to more eastern practices.

It never ends. You will, and should, be doing this your whole life.
One thing I have learned about “my nature” is that it changes. Every fine tuning I do adds up until I see a noticeable change and I realize I’m not the same person I was.
Then I have to reassess my position, my values and my direction. The journey starts over. Not from scratch, but more like a new chapter.

Read, observe, learn. Be introspective, be honest with yourself. The price to pay for not doing these is too great. We must strive to become wise and happy men, not for the world at large but for our own peace and contentment.

From looking at posts from the more senior members in particular, you can see it is worth it.

I think our continued efforts to reach a certain level of refinement in our lives is perfection in itself.

    Well said Gambit.
