Backup cameras now required in new cars in the U.S.
New cars sold in the U.S. must have backup cameras to help drivers avoid accidents under a federal regulation that took effect Wednesday.
———This is going to be a disaster. Snowflakes and women are going to be looking at the screen and not where they are going.
mgtow is its own worst enemy- https://www.campusreform.org/
Idiocracy.
Now. The real issue is not backup cameras being required, but the fact that there is no doubt they are required to function.
And based on the way technology is built now as cheaply as possible, it just adds to the cost of maintaining a vehicle.
And conditions a new round of drivers to not be able to back up without use of that type of camera.
Like if that is the only way someone ever backs up.
Then for whatever reason they find themselves driving an older car at some point and have to back up, it is a recipe for disaster.
This is the kind of thing that should always be settled:
By THE FREE MARKET
Like, lower insurance rates for cars that have that type of camera system.
Not government regulation.
You saw the same thing with all of the emissions control systems on diesel and natural gas engines mandated on engines back in the 90s. It was a disaster for manufactures because they basically had to re-invent the wheel. Customers were p~~~ed too as the technology would constantly break and was expensive to fix.
Yep
Throw in something else to actually distract from driving, knowing how to drive, and knowing your own vehicle. There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
Accidents are going to skyrocket. Drivers (especially women drivers) aren’t going to actually TURN THEIR HEADS AROUND and look for other cars approaching. They’re just going to be glued, heads-down, to that stupid little screen with no peripheral vision.
Even if I had one of those in my car, I would disable it on purpose. Maybe they are convenient in some cases (trailer hitching?), but everyone can and should learn how to drive and reverse properly.

Anonymous1So we can now wait for even more folks to “back in” parking spaces while blocking thoroughfares.
If you’re not delaying anyone, fine.
If it takes you 3 attempts to back in the space, and folks are waiting to go past, you’re wrong.
I get especially annoyed having to wait for folks to back into these

I ALWAYS see women doing that (occasionally men) – they use their mirrors to reverse and it is so f~~~ing dangerous. Women have zero spatial awareness which is why they make such bad drivers and this law is just to mollycoddle women even further than our society does already
Back up cameras came out in abundance around 2012, and in 2014 the gov’t announced that they would be installed in all cars. I guess it finally went though. You’d be hard pressed to find a car less than 5 years old that doesn’t have a camera.
So they’ve been around a while, this won’t cause any more accidents than have already been happening over the last few years. The back up camera only turns on when the car is in reverse.
More cars are on the road, so there have been more accidents.
As far as I’m concerned, camera or not, 80% of people on the road can’t properly park a car anyway. I’ll never understand what is so difficult about parking a car in between two lines. Next time you walk into a parking lot, check and see the corners of people’s cars. Most will have scrapes and scratches from parking.
Insurance rates have already been rising because of the accidents, this is just another reason for them to raise rates.
I have one in my 2017 Camry and it’s pretty nice to be able to look at it to see where your bumper lines up with the curb. It’s not necessary but it’s a nice thing to have.
Also, most cars that have these cameras also have alarms that beep when you’re backing up when it senses movement from any direction.I have a backup camera in my van. It has HUGE blind spots. I only use it for the last 4-6″.
If these idiots knew how to angle their mirrors, they wouldn’t need cameras.

Trailer hitching is the only thing they’re good for. For me, they don’t show enough of what is behind you. It’s much easier for me to use mirrors to back up. I’ve been doing it for so long, I can actually drive down the road backwards pretty fast with mirrors.
They’re not being required for safety. It’s just another money maker, just like seatbelt laws.
The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.

Speaking of Seatbelt Laws, why the f~~~ are buses except from seatbelt laws? You have a much bigger vehicle with a lot more passengers.
Marriage and Divorce for a man is like getting a cactus shoved up your ass. It’s painful with all the spines that go in and it is painful getting all the spines out, meanwhile Wifey gets most of the money, your home, your kids, and practically everything you own.

That’s what gets me p~~~ed. All these stupid laws and regulations are just about revenue.
In my state, not wearing your seatbelt used to be a secondary offence. They only gave you a ticket for no seatbelt if they pulled you over for speeding. Now they pull you over just for not wearing a seatbelt. Just got a damn $30.00 ticket recently.
In this state, I can’t legally drive in a four wheeled vehicle without a seatbelt, but I can legally ride my motorcycle without a helmet!
Back to the buses. Isn’t the driver required to wear a seatbelt? HA! To hell with the passengers. At least the driver survived the crash.

Instead of requiring cars to have backup cams, we should require men to have body cams.

That’s f~~~ing Capitalism for you. At least in Florida, they recently made texting while driving a primary offense. If you get caught with a cell phone in your hand when you are pulled over, you will get a ticket.

I don’t really think this is necessary, but i’m not against it either. Even if you know how to use your mirrors properly to safely back up, there’s still a big blind spot directly behind your car. Although when I was taught to drive, i was taught to do a walk around first check passanger tires for obstructions and inflation, check the blind spot at the back then check driver side for obstructions or flat tires and then go in, check mirrors and reverse.
Now I admit I don’t walk around the car and I imagine most people don’t do that either. So a backup camera would help you see an obstruction or dog or kid in the blind spot behind the car. Plus it also helps people back up straight which seems to be a talent missing in a lot of drivers these days when they back into parking spaces.
So i’m for it. I don’t see it as a bad thing.

Anonymous0I am not surprised at this. Distracted drivers not willing to pay attention to what they are doing, and cars that are disgined so poorly they are full of blind spots. Most newer vehicles I have been in are so poorly designed there are usually rear and rear quarter blind spots.
This regulation however is not entirely neccisary. Its amazing at what paying attention and knowing your vehicle allow you to accomplish without cameras or a spotter.
I am not for it as a standard. But I also hate new vehicles. So I dont think I have much to worry about since I only buy older vehicles that are actually made worth a f~~~.
