Everytime a debater started up the I.D. road, I would just cite Sam Harris on how no Creator would make a body that:

    1. Breathes out the same hole it eats from. This accounts for thousands of child deaths every year.
    2. Pees out the same hole as it inseminates from. This causes trouble for women.
    3. Has knees that are weak and prone to arthritic agony. We spent 100,000,000’s years on all fours, and then stated walking upright only 7,000,000 years ago.

‘Intelligent Design’ has got to be one of the most lamest, ridiculous and idiotic propositions ever! Do some searching on the development of the human eye. Animals like the octopus and the eagle have far better eyesight than people. And what degenerate sick phuck would ‘design’ something as important as an eye in such a way that you can poke it out and blind someone with a bendy straw???

Believing in God is SO anthropomorphic that its literally human instinct, a survival mechanism, a necessary vanity.

… Christianity […] allows believers to choose and formulate their own interpretations of what their holy book says …

Try saying that in medieval Europe! (and in some parts it would still be a bad idea, even now).

‘Intelligent Design’ has got to be one of the most lamest, ridiculous and idiotic propositions ever! Do some searching on the development of the human eye.

This is one particular interpretation of ID, one in which everything is assumed to be more or less zapped into existence as we see it today. It is most popular with fundamentalist Christians and is the version with which most people are familiar.

Faced with that, the comment about the development of the eye is valid.

However, not everyone subscribes to that interpretation. A more subtle version looks back much, much further to a primary cause. Causation is a major strand in abstract Hindu thought.

Would a creator bother with the minutiae of evolution? Having set the ball rolling, probably not.

Reference the human eye, I would like to think that an omniscient, omnipotent ‘creator’ could come up with a design a little more robust and better performing than what we have. A $25 dollar web cam is an improvement in that respect…

Here is where he starts rolling and leads up to that quote.

I mentioned Distractions earlier. And I have to admit, these days I require a ton of sleep and food to be able to focus on deep topics like these, to sustain concentration.

And thats just it, people are entirely too distracted, sleepy, undernourished, lazy and busy with Fun Stuff to pay attention to Philosophy.

That one video posted of the guy talking about Why We Believe in the Gods. He put me to sleep in 5 mins last night! lol. I followed up this morning. The presentaion and lecturing is a sleep aide. Even the lighting was low.

People cant be bothered with caring Autolite. That is the answer. Its far easier to just roll with the idea of God because it sounds so simple. So they accept it without hesitation and move on to tasty orange juice and chasing girls. The ape chases its tail in glee. You try to stop it from playing and get it to scratch its chin in thought. Its throws bananas at you and laughs. lol

I’m not exactly sure why but it bothers me that there are so many people who hold such bizarre and absurd beliefs. I feel that it’s detrimental to our society in general.

I couldn’t trust a brain surgeon to work on me who sincerely believes that some guy actually rode a winged horse into outer space. I wouldn’t want to work for or take orders from a boss who really thinks that dinosaurs rode on Noah’s Ark. I’d be very uncomfortable flying on plane piloted by someone who really believes that a guy lived several days inside the belly of a fish and was then spewed out alive and well. It bothers me that there are many people who make our laws and run our government who actually think that some zombie came back to life after being dead for three days.

It’s unsettling for me knowing that I share this planet with people who believe such things but I also know that I am for the most part alone on this. For me, being surrounded by Theists makes me feel like I’m living in some sort of messed-up ‘Twilight Zone’ kinda world. I realize that I cannot stop folks from believing such weird and ridiculous things but at least perhaps I might try and understand why they believe in what they do. Maybe if I can figure this out it will help me to learn to just live with it and not let it bother me as much as it does…

Funny stuff to read man. thanks.

Similarly though, to the winged horse, fish belly surviving, zombie savior weird stuff, we have people who think a seven year old boy should undergo a sex change, or that gender confused teen boys should be allowed to shower with the girls in PhysEd. We have people who genuinely believe in slave reparations and fully open borders. We have pop culture encouraging us to marry single moms as if its praiseworthy. AOC got elected! Need I say more?

So you have a decision to make my friend. On one side, you have religious nutters. The sting of their sword was replaced by the annoyance of their Gospel convictions. Fair enough? Science won so there is no need to rub it in, afterall, we actually need them in a way. Apart from their preachy Sunday School myths, their lifestyles are admirable? Lets be fair to ’em. On the other side, you have a bunch of crazy animals we generally call The Left. You already know how zonked they all are.

You chose wisely my friend. Id rather have a pilot flying me who thinks he will win 72 virgins after death, than to have the plane piloted by some blue haired affirmative action hire, who if you call zer the wrong pronoun, ze might be the next one to fly a fvcking plane into a building. I dont know, to be honest, I dont like flying and prefer to road trip it or Cruise. But you get what I mean. Id rather have Christies as neighbors than single moms popping pills and looking trashy. So they bought the Jesus thing hook line and sinker… well, the Feminism Lie is worse right now.

    just blabbering away, ignore me.

    There are two major tragedies.

    1. Atheists get tossed in with The Left too often. That crap needs to be corrected. Atheist Conservatives are everywhere.
    2. The Right needs to 86 the religious zealot image.

But the biggest thing is that The Right needs to stop being classified as White… That is a whole other topic though.

The choice between a nutty Theist pilot or a loony feminist pilot isn’t really much of a choice at all… 🙁

Dowd grew concerned when Osbon made comments such as “We need to take a leap of faith”, “We’re not going to Vegas”, and “I can’t be held responsible when this plane crashes.” Osbon began giving what the first officer described as a sermon.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JetBlue_Flight_191

During a 2012 JetBlue flight from New York to Las Vegas, Osbon ran through the plane screaming about terrorism and asking passengers to embrace religion

    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/former-jetblue-pilot-sues-16m-2012-midflight-meltdown

As I read more about JetBlue Flight 191, I find that the pilot who went bonkers eventually sued the airline for failing to recognize his mental illness! I really have to wonder how it would’ve went down if the airline wouldn’t let him fly because his belief in an invisible, omnipotent, magical man was itself a ‘mental illness’???

exactly! Would you rather have a mild mannered western Muslim as a pilot OR THAT LADY? Which is the greater liability, his faith and possible Gihadist beliefs or her guaranteed Hysterical Neurosis? These women are all Batty in the Brains bro. LOL

I simply do not trust Passenger Airliners. They fvcking crash all the time. Whether from instrument failure or psychotic people on the aircraft. Is it really worth the trip? You have to seriously want to get where you’re going to fly today. I know the odds are slim but still, its not a risk I like taking. You can live from a car accident, even if car accidents are way more likely to occur, you can live. Airplane crashes kill everyone on board usually. If some idiot fires a bazooka at the airplane over East Europe, everyone on board is waxed. (happened like 2 years ago).

Anyway, Id rather DRIVE or ride a train or boat… the only planes I like going up in are twin props and light aircraft with no hysterical women on board, and the pilot is a sober Protestant. LOL

But that JetBlue pilot was a “sober Protestant”…until he wasn’t.

It’s the psychological aspect of Theism that still interests me. The accepted medical definition of a delusion is “an irrational, unsubstantiated belief that isn’t shared within one’s community“.

IOWs, my belief in the Tooth Fairy or Leprechauns wouldn’t technically be considered a delusion if everyone else around me believed in the Tooth Fairy or Leprechauns. This is how our society gives religion/Theism a pass. And IMO that’s seriously phucked-up…

    Gravel Pit’s Rapture Letter:

Dear Losers who never accepted Christ. Im no longer with you, I was saved. Am I supposed to feel sorry for the eternity of suffering you’re about to receive? A fireball spinning in your rotten guts. I tried to tell you dummies to repent and accept Christ but you were deceived by the Devil in the form of Neil deGrasse Tyson and BBC documentaries. Well, told ya so! I wish you had listened but you refused to accept Jesus the many times he sought you out, like when that Creed song was on the radio charts for so long. You may want to go ahead and do yourself in now before the locusts* come. You’re all headed to Hell anyway so may as well spare yourself the grizzly parts of Revelation. Well, enjoy Hell… guess theres nothing more to say. Gods vengeance be done. Goodbye.

7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails.

I’m a fan Of Sam Harris, although I don’t know what his views on feminism are.

I’m guessing that he’s a liberal feminist like Richard Dawkins, but I may be wrong.
I can appreciate both of their views on topics related to evolution and religion. but when we get to the arena of politics and feminism that’s where we part ways.

I thought so: he is married with children. He still has some work to do. lol

I completely agree with your words there, Awakened.
