Actually, look similar to Ragnar from the series “Vikings”

………and a face of ball sack.

Close. A head certainly. I have a soft face. Red cheeks, freckles, a blue eyes, ginger/blonde beard.

Post a photograph of yourself so I can print many copies to take to the firing range.

Ok. Make sure you keep one to frame on the wall……next to the severed heads of all thy enemies.

    Hi Hermit,
I am not a favour of wire brushes because they do cause microscopic erosion of the bore, which is undesirable at the crown. I think it is a small matter and will not make any difference through most of a barrel’s useful life and probably most of us can’t shoot well enough to see it make much difference at the end of a barrel’s life but I like the idea of doing the best one can for the accuracy of a weapon. I think its the right attitude to take -accuracy is the doing of many trifles well yet accuracy is overall trifling matter.

I am not personally overly troubled about getting the last 5% of fouling out of a barrel. If I fire 40 rounds, I will see the copper in the barrel with the naked eye. If I use patch out till I can get no more blue and till the patches are only a mild grey colour, I can see no copper and the rifle is cleaner of carbon than it will be after I fire even a single shot and clean with CLP and a few patches and I will not see the copper back again till I have fired more than a dozen shots, so I am happy that it is clean enough. If you scrub a rifle brutally you will actually alter it and you will need to re-zero. I have a saddle mounted Swarovski scope on my Blazer deer rifle and if the rifle is cleaned gently, I find the scope snaps back on and the rifle is still on zero.

CLP is great for cleaning after a hunting trip and putting a gun away, maybe not to be fired again for a time but it won’t get your copper out.

In a way its one of the things I love about shooting, it is not yet an exact science. There are some clear no nos but it is perfectly possible for 2 good shots to have quite different ideas about cleaning just as it is perfectly normal for two good rifles of the same calibre and even make and model to need different ammunition to perform optimally. There is science in spades in shooting but there is still enough art and maybe alchemy too to keep it a thing of mystery and magic.

A woman is like fire -fun to play with, can warm you through and cook your food, needs constant feeding, can burn you and consume all you own

Shooting is a great sport. I enjoy all aspects of it, even the cleaning. My procrastination is a problem for me, but once I get started cleaning a gun, I find that I like it and should not have put it off as long as I did.

The weather is supposed to be pretty good this holiday weekend, so I’ll hopefully get out to the range to do some pistol and rifle practice. I hope my son will join me. He’s only been to the range one time, but he really enjoyed it. He really liked the grip on my AR-15, so I bought one just like it for his.

I’ll be off work for almost a week so hopefully I’ll get at least one or two guns cleaned. LOL
