I had a buddy that had a kid at 16. At 16, I thought man…that f~~~ing blows. At 30, I thought man…that is f~~~ing awesome. He was actually young enough to go out and enjoy doing outdoor stuff and playing sports with his son…it wasn’t like sorry son…dad’s in his 60s and will break a hip if he slips playing basketball with you. I’m not recommending having kids at 16, but I’m mid 30s and even now the thought of if I had a kid…how old would before they are a self sufficient adult crosses my mind. I couldn’t fathom the idea of starting that timer in my 50s and being responsible for a minor until I’m 70 without even taking into account increased birthed defects and stress on the body of the mother for having a kid at 50+.

It’s going to be really amusing when america’s creditors wise up and stop loaning the U.S. money to pour down that particular rat hole. By the time you’ve saved enough after paying for your kids to finally buy a car worth having, your kids are old enough to “borrow” it and wreck it.

Seriously. This happened to one of the old guys I see on track day. One day he shows up in a beautifully restored old A-body convertible. I think it was Pontiac goat, but I can’t be sure because I only saw it that one day. Two months later he’s back in his sad little four cylinder Z3. What happened? His daughter turned sixteen, “borrowed” his car, and totaled it. I think she was actually his step daughter.

I’m shocked at how many middle age women I’ve met that had babies in their 40’s, and then have kids in grade school into their 50’ss One woman had a kid at 40, and 2nd kid at 42. The oldest was birth was 45, can you imagine having a 7yo when you’re 52?!?!?!
