Are women the reason companies go mobile?

I mean, we see that Sega is going mobile (and it’s not working well with them), we’re seeing Konami going mobile and treating its employees and customers like s~~~, if Capcom fails again, we might see them going mobile…

And we see that a lot of women, if not most women preferring mobile platforms….

Women generally don’t like to play real games.  It’s too much for them.  They prefer mind-numbing games like Candy Crush and Bubble Popper.  Men don’t waste money on stupid apps as often as women do.  Men…..they pirate games.  Buy used games.  Generally use their brains to save money.  Women mindlessly buy s~~~ (including games, clothes, and pretty much everything).  Because of that, it’s easy to make money in the mobile market.  Besides, there’s this big scare of the “death of the PC.”  Personally, I just don’t see it.  I’ll be using a PC for the next 50 years at least.  Phones and tablets are just toys.

I think so, the whole move to “apps” and crap cellphone/tablet games is about catering to women primarily. The PC will never die because you can’t get much in the way of real work done on a tiny screen and you can only pack so much into those tiny devices before you start hitting physical limitations like heat dispersion, which means the performance will always be inferior.

Pandering to women is the death of good things. Technology and games will not escape being savaged by this trend of retardation.

it probably is. Games companies are desperate to tap into the female market as they can make a load of money for minimal outlay. Why spend $millions making a console game that might not even break even when you can make a candy crush ripoff for pennies and stupid women will actually PAY to progress through the game and you make a bucket load of money….it’s a no brainer for them

will ultimately lead to the end of videogames as we know them and another male enjoyed hobby ruined as always

Or independent developers will step in where the big money went off chasing tunabux. With practically everything being available as a download these days it’s not like there needs to be a huge outlay for publishing. Time was when you had to pay manufacturers to make cartridges, then prices dropped by going to discs, now all you need is a server and a robust licensing algorithm. So game prices go down, actual developers make more money, and independents, being independent, get to tell whiny feminist to go f~~~ themselves.

that is the only benefit of a download only future that I can see but I am old fashioned and like seeing a game sitting on my shelf. I know those days are numbered but they are being sped along by dippy femis and stupid smartphone playing women

If they are pursuing profits, it makes sense to me. If they are pursuing ideology, they are bound to go bankrupt.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

I would not be surprised if they are trying to attract more women to the games! Will fail miserably if this is their goal, but I will not feel bad for they!

I became a MGTOW because this was the only logical solution for a man survive in a world replete of gynocentrism and biased against men!

I’m right with you there. I prefer to have something I can hold in my hand, especially when downloaded things can disappear at a moment’s notice or at the company’s whim (which is why I will never own a Kindle). This is especially true if they expect to charge $50 or more for a game; at that price I demand material goods. This $5 off for the download version on a $80 game is bulls~~~, especially when the actual game developers likely see less than a dollar per unit.

However when it’s an independent things are a little different. If they offer a decent game for $5-$10 where I know the majority of my money is going to the developers themselves and not some middle man publisher, I have no problem outlaying $5. The developers get more that way, I pay a lot less, and at $5 I can burn the download to my own disc if I want something to hold.

It’s not just women going after mobile games: it’s ANYONE you see glued to a cell phone, especially if they’re “poor” because mobiles games are typically “cheap” or “free”.

Frankly, I like the way Nintendo calls games like these “free to start” as it’s the actual truth of the matter: starting is free, which attracts broke folks who feel they don’t have a good enough PC to play the latest games everyone is talking about and are too broke to buy a current gen console yet still own a current cell phone as it’s “a necessity”. This includes NEETs, broke college students, teens, the under-18 crowd, old folks and women who blew all their money on shoes or whatever. They’re like “OMG- all these games and they’re all super cheap or free! I can get like 60 games or more for the price of one new game and I don’t need to buy anything new to play! MUST PLAY!”

Of course the vast majority of poor people are poor because they have a poor person mentality. They haven’t realized that the games are “free to start” because they will cost a lot more than that $60 console/computer game in the end. It doesn’t help that a common habit of poor folks is that any money they suddenly get must be spent right freaking now before it “vanishes” which leads to them “splurging” on those “free” games they have been playing anyway. Also remember that the poor greatly outnumber the middle class and wealthy in the USA which means there’s a massive market full of rubes.

Companies have noticed this. Where’s there’s fools with money expect the companies to follow. Sure, people with actual computers/consoles or who have been burned by mobile games are catching on and avoiding anything that costs under $5, but breeders are making tons more broke rubes faster than savvy folks mature and the lazy breeders toss the brats cell phones to shut them up. Companies also know this which explains the kiddie-style graphics (that and crappy toony stuff is cheaper to make and use).

Want to fight the mill? Send them to Good Old Games or teach them the glory of ROMs which will run on even the crappiest computer. Also buy games. If there’s no money in console/computer games, companies will shift focus to where the money is. Following the money is why companies go mobile. Move money to move companies.

    There you go!

    Beauty fades, dumb is forever.

I don’t necessarily have to agree with this. Companies still need to make their money, and some do make worthy products.

@Gray Fox:  Well, not every man pirates games or buys used games.  But a lot more men do that then women.  They don’t think about how much something costs before they buy it.  The sole factor women use in deciding whether or not to purchase something is:  I want it.  Cost is considered secondary or not at all.  That was my point when I said that.

They also spend upwards of thousands of dollars on steam, buy trading cards and over priced csgo skins.

I did alot when I was younger and didn’t have a credit card, but not so much anymore. I find more satisfaction now in actually buying the games I like, especially when it involves something physical.

ROMS are the way to go, especially when it comes to non Windows systems where games are scarce. Had alot of fun with ROMS and MAME in the last decade too.

About 10 years ago I rebuilt an old dead arcade coin-op video game machine and put an old pentium-2 motherboard into it to run MAME for my very own universal video arcade. It cost me less than $100 total for all the parts, not counting the original cost of the console or the computer. I eventually got rid of it after the CRT screen broke and because it was taking up too much space. However I am seriously considering making a new incarnation with a $25 raspberry pi. Because for $25, why not? I’m tired of using the keyboard. I want to play pacman with a clicky joystick again, just the way God intended.

MAME is undoubtedly one of the finest pieces of open source ever to be released,  it’s a gift from heaven.

I have to agree here. I dislike the idea pirating games. Always irked me. Even used games… I don’t want a game with baggage. That was kind of a MGTOW joke.

Oh it’s okay, lol. I’m just a stickler for the rules. Without rules s~~~ would go to hell. Stealing is not an option for me. I’d rather pay for worthy goods and services.

But what about Abandonware and other orphan copyrights?

Pirating, say, the latest Batman game, Arkham Knight, obviously isn’t cricket, but there are a lot of fun games out there for which there simply isn’t any possible way to purchase a new, unused, legal copy. If I want to play, say, Wing Commander: Privateer or the original Conker: BFD, it’s not like I’m going to be able to walk down to my local Friendly Neighborhood Game Shop and pick up a fresh-in-box cartridge, much less a new console to play it on. the only way I can play it is with a ROM or ISO using an emulator.
