I was looking in this as well. But could not find any companies being traded publicly. There maybe a good reason for this. If there was a company like this, someone would buy them out, then make everything proprietary, so then they could just take the doll off the market.

You have to understand that this is a tech that WOMEN do not want. And let’s face it. If there was one, they would get MONEY just to NOT produce the doll.

As Mickey wisely points out, any company is going to keep such R&D under wraps or have plausible alternate explanations for it. The blow back is already beginning and it will only get worse.

Back in 2007, feminists and their allies thought Lars and the Real Girl was nice quirky movie because A) lLrs lives in some tiny town in the flyover state, B) the doll is used by those around Lars as a way of monitoring his mental health, and C) in the end Lars buries his sex doll and hooks up with the usual romcom skank. The men who told me about that have been telling me about an R&D race involving “tactile feedback”. While that tech would be great for gaming, more than one of them has mentioned it would be a breakthrough for sexbots. The firms working only talk about gaming applications while knowing full well that the real money will come from elsewhere.

I’d look into small R&D firms associated with gaming console companies. I’d also look into “animatronic” research and VR systems. All of those technologies are going to be used in some way in sexbots. Custom molding might be another way to “spot” the industry.

The firms which manufacture the “nuts & bolts” aren’t going to be based in the West. Feminists and labor costs will see to that. The manufacturing companies are going to be Pacific Rim types. They’ll produce the various sub-assemblies which firms in North America or Europe then import and use to build the finished product. The final assembly shops are going to be very low visibility. Their web presence, for example, will entirely off-shore along with most of their banking.

That’s an interesting idea, but realistically we are decades away from actual sex robots becoming commercially available. Even the sex dolls that are available now generally cost in the thousands and they are just made of silicone or TPE and a very basic metal skeleton, with no moving parts or automation whatsoever. There are some VERY expensive dolls that come with AI programs so the doll can “talk” to you (but without moving lips) but even these are not very realistic or lifelike, even though they cost as much as a car…a NICE car. The AI and robotics technology needed to produce sex robots is still decades into the future, at least…and when it does become available, it will most likely be astronomically expensive (although still cheaper than a divorce or impregnating someone).

Honestly if this is something you are interested in, the sex doll industry has exploded recently. I think it is very unlikely to stop growing anytime soon, as there are quite a few manufacturers that are springing up and mass producing and selling these dolls. Most of them come from china, but have vendors in other countries that basically take orders and handle distribution. If you could find some companies like this that are publicly traded there may be some good investment opportunities. You’ll have to research them yourself though and decide if it is a good idea, because it would probably entail a lot of risk. Unless you have some personal interest in this field, there are probably much better ways you could invest your extra cash and make some money.

The tech must be something the culture will accept.

Even if Japan or China puts out a great walking, talking, f~~~ing love doll, the Western cultures will likely find a way to make it illegal or so unpalatable to buy or sell, that no company will import it here as a complete unit.

Maybe AI can be sold separately from animatronics and later combined by the end user.

One thing the tech industry is going to want to do is create a continuing need for the tech products.
That means upgrades and updates, just like game consoles and phones.

How about a “sex tourist” scheme where western men vacation in Pacific Rim countries where they meet and court the dolls, and then bring them home as “wives”. Sound familiar?
