    Failte Marty,

Your question is interesting. Many of my Mother’s and Father’s family are now living in the USA, UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. And they still consider themselves Irish, in Irish colonies.

I went to school in Galway and stayed with relatives in Connemara who were known for their excellent poitin. After college in the USA, I fell into a honey trap and mostly stayed in the USA.

Nevertheless, it is remarkable that when I traveled to places where I was the only one who had pink skin with red hair and immersed myself in other cultures, the part of me that was “from Ireland” grew stronger. My Irish Soul became brighter from contact with other bright Souls from other nations, in spite of their powerful influences.

Many people I know in the USA consider themselves Irish or from Ireland even though their families’ roots are firmly planted in American history with distinguished service as US Soldiers as early as the war for Independence and the Civil War to the World Wars.

A good friend claims to be a blood relative of Jesse James, but he still sees himself as Irish.

Another good friend has skin that is so black that other blacks called him Boo. In a dark room, you can only see the whites of his eyes. Boo’s Grandfather was an Irishman, and Boo has always considered himself Irish.

What I just described is organic and very different than the commercialized cac which permeates American Media. However, I admit to having some great craic on St. Patrick’s Day in the USA.

I hope you will enjoy the following versions of an Old Time American Dance Tune which is inspired by a place for making Moonshine.

    Dear Friend,

America is, in a way, “Greater Hibernia”. There are more Irish in the U.S. and Canada than there are in Ireland!

I am new to this site and couldn’t resist saying Hi…

I am Irish, Scottish, and English, which leaves me somewhat conflicted, as my Irish wants a drink, My Scottish doesn’t want to pay for it, and my English wants to throw the other 2/3 of me in gaol as hooligans!!

Gloryo–Gloryo to the Bohemian Men!! (do you Know that song??)

Any Woman that dedicates her life to making a whole lot of Men Happy, instead of making One Man Miserable has my vote!! (John Wayne: North to Alaska)
