While I agree these millennial pussies overuse the word “anxiety” you f~~~ing c~~~ suckers need to realize some people truly suffer. I was in the army for a period and had panic attacks DAILY. That is anxiety. F~~~ you all.

I don’t think any they were referring to you specifically but millennials who trivialize it with their behavior/attitude. It can lead to people not taking it seriously in real cases like yours.

Much as millennial snowflakes are coddled and a good deal of mental disorders are over-medicated and probably over-diagnosed, anxiety disorder is a legit mental problem if you have it. Panic attacks, hypersensitivity to your body and environment, and a general sense of being on edge most of the time is no laughing matter. It isn’t something that I would wish on my worst enemy. True, there are things that can be done to help with treating this disorder, but it doesn’t make it completely go away. Combine generalized anxiety with depression and it gets really dicey. The “really fun part” of it all is when it triggers for no particularly good reason. Intellectually, you know nothing is wrong, but your body doesn’t cooperate with that assessment.

Hey dude your post really hit me on the head. I get intense anxiety before I sleep. So much recently (I have no idea why am not in debt am free of self imposed slavery – Am really walking the golden path because of you brothers) I thought I could be “defective”. Your right it is not a joke. My bad for my post it’s alittle ‘sensational’. I am a fool.

Brother, you’re only human like the rest of us. Just give yourself time to heal – everybody’s different. You can’t always use other people as the standard to set yourself on, just as a guide. Sure, true anxiety problems don’t heal overnight – I personally wrestled with suicidal thoughts and depression for a year and change before I finally found myself again.

We’re all a little defective according to society anyway 🙂

Glad that my post can help. I am in a similar situation in that I have no debt and I also free of female slavery. I have been dealing with mild to moderate (depending on how one would rate severity) anxiety, and to a lesser extent depression, for the better part of my life. Never really knew for sure that I had anxiety issues until a few months back when I was able to piece together some things in my life. There are ways to deal with anxiety, but likely it won’t ever completely go away. Just be sure to go easy on yourself and remember that you are a f~~~ed up human being, just like the rest of us.

After 15 years being manacled to my bitch, believe me, anxiety is very real and very life threatening.

    Fortunately, I’ve developed a cure. It’s called so-what-disorder.

    Stay vigilant. They're everywhere.

Aren’t the vast majority of you people Millennials?

Anyone that is 18-34 right now is a Millennial. That’s a heck of a lot of the posters on here.

Each generation is mostly filled with crap, but I give the crap award to Boomers. As someone else posted, these are the jerks that promoted and pushed feminism, and destroyed every generation of men after them that they could. They also shirked their duty to future generations, instead choosing to rob from the cradle, placing young people into major debt, then keeping them from being able to have their own lives, instead dumping onerous entitlement payments on them such as medicare and social security. Even Obamacare is yet another ridiculous wealth transfer scheme from the young to the old, yet the old have the vast majority of the wealth while the young are crushed every which way.

Too many people still accept the corporate oligarch narrative to attack young people. I’m most certainly not young, and I find many young people utterly obnoxious, in large part because they just parrot back the liberal agenda, even against their own interests. But most older people are also obnoxious, and probably worse, as they are downright evil for attacking those that are clearly weaker and less well off than them.

This is actually a point where I deviate from many people on this website. I do not, and have not for a long time (basically after maturing), taken any joy in bullying those weaker or worse off than me. That does not mean I want to join them in their circumstances, it merely means I protect myself and then have empathy for my fellow human being. The vast majority of older Westerners do not have this compassion that I do, and it shows. It is normal for Western women, but in fact the frothing Boomer men pretty much instilled that behavior in women to begin with.

Oh well, whatever. Doesn’t matter, and I won’t change anyone’s thinking most likely.

It’s their f~~~ing parents that are to blame. You raise a kid to believe they are extra special, that they always deserve a reward, and then do damn near everything for them instead of allowing them to fail because you want them to have “good self-esteem”, and this is what you get: a bunch of adults who can’t do a f~~~ing thing for themselves or handle the least bit of criticism. Boomers need to own up to their own part in this matter instead of blaming the kids. S~~~ty parenting leads to f~~~ed up kids who then become f~~~ed up adults. It’s really that simple.

Well, I’m a millennial and I have been thinking this for a few years now. Boomers, here in USA, lived through a period of very high standard of living. Those I have talked to tell me stories of dropping out of high school getting a job on the line at $19 an hour. Buying a house, a car, a cabin up north, a boat, living debt free all by the age of 23. The cars, electronics, and tools were of much higher quality and lasted far longer. They tell me stories of partying every weekend and having a really good time. When the standard of living started to go down they borrowed from the future generations of unborn to prop it up. Now we are paying off a debt for the good old days that I have never seen. Millennials have lots of problems, but Boomers have no sympathy for our situation and instead blame the victim, telling us to work harder and stop complaining. Boomers also make fun of how s~~~ty things are now, like it’s a big joke. It’s not funny because I have to live in this f~~~ed world now. The Millennial Curse is being old enough to remember some of the good times (back in the early 90’s) and being young enough to spend my entire adult life in the bad times (post 9/11).

    Millenials you say.

I’ve been a pharmacist for 8 years now.

I assure you, Millenials make up less than 5 percent of the people taking anti anxiety benzodiazepines and anti depressants.

Based on my large experience, boomers are by a very large majority the most anxious group I deal with….and the rudest as well.

My generation does have many issues, but your submission is not based in reality

No offense is intended brother and I’m sure you know this better than the rest of us here. Pardon my ignorance, I defer to your superior expertise 🙂

With your presence on the “front-line” of the pharmaceutical industry, I would like your educated perspective: Do you believe that we will see trends of Milennials taking the place of Boomers in the future as customers of anti-depressants and similar benzodiazepines?

I am surprised; I did not realize that Boomers drastically overtook Milennials in this fashion.

regarding anxiety, I dont know if millennials have it a lot more than previous generations. BUT I do beleive personality disorders are multitudes higher. In my opinion, I think it’s largely due to technology. Things like social media and the internet have a strongly negative influence on people. People that if they lived 40 years ago, would not be full blown narcissitic. The internet is like a drug feeding into these people’s addictions and enabling them.
