    They have a point.

Never use a weapons system you cannot afford to lose.

All NK needs to do is to wait for 2 or more carrier groups to be in the emp and or damage radius of a nuke and they can cripple 2 carriers. China might even give them more efficient guidance systems as it would mean the US would no longer be able to efficiently project force in the pacific. Combine this with an attack on SK and it would be the start of the next Korean war. However, given all the f~~~in snowflakes in the US right now, the world rightly assumes the US has no b~~~~ anymore.

The real battle no one talks about is the China attack on Taiwan. A shore battery can always out gun a ship.

The next Gen anti ship missles will launch straight up , turn, and crash down on a ship a 10k miles per hour. That can’t be shot down, too fast. None of the air defense weapons shoot straight up.

Carrier launched attacking aircraft can be recalled at the last minute. An ICBM launch can’t. I think that’s part of the rationality behind maintaining a carrier force…

All the above is true, however naval power has long been the key element of force projection. Aircraft can only remain aloft so long and forward deployment requires bases on foreign soil. Battleships and later aircraft carriers became the key tool in military, and now humanitarian diplomacy. reconfiguring the carrier mission however is a great point. Submarines, cruisers and destroyers do the hard target damage these days via cruise missiles. There is nothing as intimidating as an aircraft flyover however.

I don’t think the U.S. “needs” about 90% of it’s military. F~~~ing bleeding us dry for foreign interests.

You cannot keep a main carrier with all your supplies on it especially in the time of war. If you must have a carrier keep it close to the shoreline and do not put too many goods in at once (so if you lose it is not too big of a problem).

Unfortunately any force forward deployed has always been considered expendable by our leaders. Hold off the “horde” until you can get troops mobilized and en route to the battle
