After over ten years of having it i finally beat it

I spent a good few hours today trying to beat the boss battle of the video game i got as a kid to which i have been trying to beat or over ten years now.

When i was about 4 to 6 years old i was given a video game one christmas by my uncle called Donkey kong 64 which was the Nintendo 64 version of the Donkey kong franchise made by rareware.

So after many years of off and on playing it both getting stuck in points for a while i finally beat the damn game to which it is one of the hardest and most filling games i have ever beat.

It only took me over 80 hours of my life to beat it as well.

Oh gods, don’t remind me of Donkey Kong… the horror of that first mine cart level in DK1 still enrages me now and then 😀

I have a few games I still haven’t yet beaten, and I don’t care anymore if I do. I still can’t get past Zuul in the NES Ghostbusters.

That is a bad level but mostly because it happens so early in the game. Donkey kong 64 is a hard game with a even harder boss battle then the original.

A whole bunch of games were really difficult to beat back in the NES area.

I never actually beat Battletoads or Zelda II.

I had to use save states on emulation to beat those games. Also cheated against Tyson in Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!.

Actually I did like Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. I liked the factory levels because of the background and the soundtrack. The mine cart levels you guys speak of wasn’t that hard for me. What was really difficult for me and it p~~~ed me off endlessly was how difficult Donkey Kong Country 2 was. I rented Donkey Kong Returns for the Wii, which in my perspective was a Donkey Kong Country 1 remake. I don’t remember what my completion percentage was for the first game, but I think it was in the upper 80s. So I do have fond memories of DK back in the SNES days playing with my brother who owned the game and the SNES before he gave me them all for Christmas 1995.

Since my old systems either don’t function, or are a pain in the ass to hook up in my current set up, I think it’s best to keep them all on my spare XP PC that I have hooked up to my TV and play the old games as ROMs and emulators. It’s a space saver.

Congrats! I loved DKC on the snes. But never really played dk on the n64. I kind of missed out on that era.

You should buy a used n64 and get it for it. The only thing however is you need an expansion pack to play it so if you get the game for about 20 bucks you still need the red expansion pack.

I had a n64 with the expansion pack… my ex wife took it when she left. Bitches, man.

Yeah it is you can buy it for 10 bucks now on the virtual console for the will u or you can emulate it using project 64 (which if you download don’t get it from their main site because they bundle in adware).
