Wow this is neat to see.

I lived in a tent and a car for a while my first time at college, working two jobs to put myself through school.

The poverty and hard work I could deal with, but what really caused me genuine pain was when, people would say I was “privileged” and that I shouldn’t contribute to certain discussion because I couldn’t possibly understand hardship and oppression.

Dang it! I may or may not be able to decide whether I am white or hispanic under U.S. law, and I already have listed that I am hispanic on my college applications. Right now, I’m white, but in the Summer, I look like a dark Mexican if I’m out in the sun enough.
