A real man doesn't care what someone else thinks a "real man" should be

So the past two weeks I was away on business travel and I had to participate in the obligatory organization dinner/mandatory fun. So one of our female co-workers (single mom quickly approaching the wall) said how it is difficult to meet real men. As in men today find it intimidating to date a woman with children. I asked her to explain and when it came down to facts, she is bitter that qualified guys do not want to take the added responsibility for her bad decisions. So she said a “real man” wouldn’t be intimated by a women with kids. I stated a real man doesn’t care what other people’s perception of a real man should be (I saw this on a meme and finally got to use it). I then stated men don’t have the luxury of telling women what a “real woman” should be. So a woman does not get to voice her opinion on what her idea of a real man should be. At least my perception of a real woman is morally high (not a slut) respectful, generous and independent. Of course the conversation ended and she likely put me in the not a sucker category.

If it costs you your peace of mind, then it is too expensive.

Though since it was a female co-worker, they’re likely to put you on the “get him fired” list. That’s what’s happening in my current workplace now to me. I’ll post a story on that later.

Hah good point Frankie. I’m sure you realize though they they mean it in the “colloquial” sense that is deliberately vague so as to sow doubt among us menfolk as to whether we measure up to it or not.

“Real man” is ambiguous by design as it serves their purpose of manipulation. Don’t get me started on the ludicrous role models we’re given in the form of superheros that are literally impossible for any human being to live up to.

Yet they have the temerity to bitch just because their role models are thin.

Add in the sexual component where prima facia evidence of “real manhood” is that you are desireable to women. The “real man” thing is really nothing more than a pathetic attempt at manipulation and control.

But you guys know that.

What’s cool though is that more and more men are waking up to it. I love the part about pointing out how men aren’t allowed to define what a “real woman” is. We should ALL start making a point to bring that up whenever you hear ANYONE talk about what constitutes a real man.

Though, while you may not care what other people have to say, do not completely ignore them. Especially, if the people in question are the ones with the guns that want to make you do what they want you to do, and man-hating women whom they listen too.

Because there may come a time where one may have to make a quick decision on whether to run or fight, because a siege will eventually become a grave.
