Outstanding masonry work, sir. As someone without experience in that field, I have some questions: On the patio example you show, is the stone held in place with mortar, or simply compacted sand? How does that particular type of layout fare in areas with extreme, frequent freeze/thaw cycles?
There is in every heart a threshold, a point at which hopeless and resignation cannot penetrate, a point at which life and death are equal forces. At this moment, a new kind of courage is born within the heart of even the dreariest slave. -- L. Sprague De Camp
This is amazing work! Did you play with Lego when you were a kid?? Don’t laugh. I’m serious. It was all I played with – building s~~~ – and I swear by it. I think it contributes later in life. The other half of my family does rock and landscaping work in Germany.
My father was head machinist for INCO. (the international nickel company) and he built stuff like the world’s hottest furnace, the world’s largest scale (you can park a 747 airplane on it) and a 3-story high machine that turns wood chunks into efficient coal/fuel which was later sold to the Japanese. He could build anything and always gave me legos for Christmas until I was 12. I can’t thank him enough. I built airports and electronic railways and everything by the time I was 8.
Websites are is just like houses out of virtual bricks and I know I inherited much from him.
Fathers and “manly trades” are the building blocks of society. It’s not just a metaphor. If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

I don’t know who you’re addressing, harpo’s from the south, I’m in Frostychusetts Harpo’s stones are an envy around here (square).
Field stone must be weathered for a couple of years to “bleed out” any iron oxide (iron oar) then discarded, Horpomayson may or may not agree with me in saying the most common mistake in mortar and concrete mixing is to loose of a slump (to much water).
Anything around here must have a 4ft frost wall underneath it, 6 ft in Vermont, if not, it must be built upon a gravel base with a 6″concrete slab then stone or brick on top. Round field stone is the most challenging and slowest in progress, bricks and blocks are very fast, Do your first row absolutely level and square, and the rest will follow.
Again, KeyMaster, I don’t know who you’re addressing, harpomason or myself, but I’ll answer anyway, yes I did play with legos, and erector sets, I even tried to build an electric motor with two magnets, copper wire, and a paper clip, it didn’t work, however the field was energized and held the armature in place, my brushes must have been set off timing. I loved building stuff when I was a kid, and with a father like mine, sky was the limit… I can’t tell you exactly how hot my stove is, my laser thermometer starts freaking at 500 f. By my calculations, after about 2 hrs. it’s 1,700 on wood, and over 2,000 on oil and plastic, a thermal fracturing masterpiece! It cycles 7.5 gal @ 190 f, about every 5 minutes.
I’m teaching my cousins 9yr old how to weld, that should boost his self esteem to new levels!
That’s my brother and I, he was behind me saying “go ahead”, publish Mr. S~~~ty face! We thought it was funny, but not funny to a website where everybody’s wearing a suite. I’m a guy, you can’t expect me to comply when I’m pushing boundaries.
Did you ever see the movie office space? When that guy pushed over his cubical wall? That’s me! The trees were in my way, so I cut them down, I carved a new asshole around my house, I’m on a 3/4 acre lot in 4 acre clearing! I truly don’t give a f~~~. I really don’t!

Anonymous42Here’s my U2 spy plane with pictures. I designed and built this plane to my own specs, I used a Kodak disposable panoramic camera, “not aerodynamic” I used the landing gear switch to activate the shutter lens.
These pictures were taken in the mid 90’s. Now I have a color video camera with a transmitter weighing only a matter of grams. The next pictures I take will be in video. I’ll put them on my U-Tube channel, showing the decay and destruction of this 280 acre, so called residential subdivision/lawfully condemned family campground. The law can be, and is, a BITCH!
I regularly had this U-2 in FAA airspace (2,000+ AGL (above ground level), eagles would come from miles around to investigate, probably thinking it was another eagle hunting…
I’ve had real aircraft come around when I flew the SeaMaster, I stayed away from them and descended when they came around.

I dove with the throttle down to get this shot. That’s me standing on the pier in the center.

Here’s some screen shots of the rc flight simulator I use to stay sharp, “Real flight”
A-10 wart hog, my favorite!

Harrier jump jet;

This simulator has too many aircraft to name, it also has several different helicopters, it’s a cheap way to learn to fly rc helicopters without destroying your aircraft $$$$$$.

You younger MGTOWS have allot of hope. The gynocentric mindset of this society would rather have you tethered to the system, like some king of mindless drone.
Modern women would rather have you tethered to them through governmental matrimony, and under their control, like some kind of mindless drone.
The modern liberated woman has become more destructive than her actual real value. Unfortunately the facts don’t lie, modern women destroy men….
Live your life under “your control”, or be under the “remote control” of today’s narcissistic vindictive liberated woman. She uses the “law” for “absolute control”.
Freedom is being your own pilot. The only way to fly!
MG-TOWER love your pictures. The restores are real nice and your spot on on the slump of the mortar. We split masonry bags and Portland half and half. Then mix as dry as possible as long as it sticks good.. I like it the consistency of peanut butter or play-dough..Rock is heavy compared to bricks so it will push the mud out if it is to wet…I agree we do have great material in Oklahoma. Some of the stone is field stone picked from the property, but the more square stone was from quarry s..
KeyMaster I had Lincoln logs not leggos.. Like MG I had erector sets also…
On the patio example you show, is the stone held in place with mortar, or simply compacted sand? How does that particular type of layout fare in areas with extreme, frequent freeze/thaw cycles?
archetypex Its mortar described above, and It stands up to freezing quite well if you fill it properly… any cracks that hold water can worsen with freezing weather…So packing the joints full is important…
I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.

Anonymous42Hey harpo, you’ll like this clip, hand forged crankshafts, notice the close and deadly proximity to man and machine. The good old days my ass!
You can hear the old ways in the way they speak, their independent thinking, and belief of property rights.
TOWER I did like it and convinced I was born to late and have thinking that is more in line with this time period…My time of life gets more and more precious and valuable to me the older I get.. I wrote a big rant about not spending any more of my time arguing politics because those parasites who pretend to rule us are not worth my time…was gonna copy and paste it in here but can’t find it now…It was in the comments under a bumper sticker that said Obama put this country in the toilet if you vote for Hillary she will pull the lever…A lot of arguing in the comments so I took no side and claimed indifference and the right not to participate.

Anonymous42Hey Harpo, I provided an appropriate link, a new topic (removing the tallens of tyranny) post it here, it should fit like a hand and glove, so you can stick it up their ass without getting s~~~ under your fingernails….
Beautiful work.Wish i could have been your apprentice 🙂 @ (Harpo)
frankly my dear i don't give a damn

Anonymous42I always envy guys who can do that type of work. I get frustrated and p~~~ed doing any kind of house/ yard work, I am too critical I guess. I can do all sorts of stuff but anything like that is lost in my hands!
Beautiful work Sir

Anonymous42The pictures I posted on this topic are gone. Why?

My own custom License plate for traveling the reservation. How f~~~ing cool is that?
******************************
Towtruckster 1, supporting Towtruckster 2 during surgery.*********************
Originally I got TT 2 for parts, when I discovered it served in the U.S. National Cemetery, most likely in Paxton Mass. I felt differently about it. It has DOD tags… It ran, however was in need of restoration. Now it has a custom interwoven tubular frame that creates one big f~~~ing four wheel crow bar. The side saddle fuel tank was converted into a tool box for holding the chains. I added a plastic fuel tank over the front wheels for weight distribution and NO RUST.. I also added hip hugging tractor seats, hi-lo beam, 500 lb coil springs over original leafs, and a real f~~~ing cool custom tuned dual exhaust system with resonators, it sounds like a mini muscle car! I was burning rubber in my garage today! If I had more room I would have been doing doughnuts! Half a doughnut is better than none.**********************
This is all I could salvage from the original stamped tailgate, and I had to repress the letters as it was severely dented to hell, folded over, and rusted.

The finished tailgate took about 4 hrs. On the side I’m going to put our infamous “black star” and somewhere else ( I haven’t decided) I’m going to do a watermark graphic of a soldier kneeling before a cross.

Wanna know why I’m so f~~~ing cool? Because I’m a MAN! and MEN are just way f~~~ing COOL!
P.S. I have one more Truckster in the pipeline, Cement Truckster! A three wheel wet cement hauler/dumper! It just doesn’t get any cooler than that! Except for my plans to perhaps build the fastest ultra lite aircraft. I all ready built one of the worlds smallest cars… if not the…
Hey Tower I do agree your cool and love the projects. I have been forced to take a delivery rout job out of necessity. Was going broke Ha Ha. I still plan on the camping trips on a shoestring budget next spring. But I have been putting in 10 to 14 hour days, with only sat and sun off. Not much time to post or read here. Next spring I hope to ride off and enjoy the scenery for a few months. I am looking for a motorcycle for my work commute, to save on fuel. But still will use the bicycle for my long trip next year. My stonework pictures don’t show now. Guess I will have to re-post them.
I have wanted to break the world record for most powerful sterling engine using two water-heaters as the displacement cylinders. The largest most powerful sterling was the one that powered the Dundee foundry it was estimated to be 45 hp.
Subsequent development by Robert Stirling and his brother James, an engineer, resulted in patents for various improved configurations of the original engine including pressurization, which by 1843, had sufficiently increased power output to drive all the machinery at a Dundee iron foundry.
The need for Stirling engines to run at very high temperatures to maximize power and efficiency exposed limitations in the materials of the day, and the few engines that were built in those early years suffered unacceptably frequent failures (albeit with far less disastrous consequences than a boiler explosion) — for example, the Dundee foundry engine was replaced by a steam engine after three hot cylinder failures in four years.
I believe the materials we have today could withstand the temperatures needed to produce over 50 hp. Would love to toss some firewood into my machine and light it up and power everything in my own machine shop.
General Electric is producing electricity from solar using sterling engines. Then selling it to us and bragging about how cheap and clean it is. They are a company the government is backing. sterling engine was invented in 1816. almost 200 years ago. swept under the rug and forgotten until the big corporations could profit from its revival. Now they want to sell us the energy. I think we should all build these for ourselves. I believe we should all have these dishes in our yard and give GE the middle finger..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mlyXRBLkqc I think this one is cool. guessing it is between 1 and 2 hp. wood burner.

Anonymous42That’s similar to the thermal dynamics of absorption ice making ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absorption_refrigerator ). I admire dudes that create things, I watch creative genius when and wherever I can, I’m affiliated and know personally as friends, nationally, and internationally acclaimed metal craftsmen in this area. I learned my planishing skills from a guy who was on national TV and is considered one of the worlds foremost experts.
My Rocket Stove may be the hottest one on the planet, I incorporated a water jacket around the feed hopper to prevent backfire (common problem), also I created a vortex generator under the riser pipe, it slings heavier molecules like creosote and motor oil into the searing “red hot” riser pipe, fracturing the molecules into their separate compounds, Hydrogen and Carbon, while the lighter gases gather in the center to be incinerated in the stove’s high oxygen environment, the super heated steam also plays a part thermal cracking. My plans are to improve it by adding a couple of inches of fire brick under the hopper (it’s slightly too effective) I’m also making jigs to run core boars through the new bricks to create a more aerodynamic and free flowing firebox and fire tunnel, no clunky sharp corners, it’ll be like a turbine.
@Harpo, If you ever come by this way on your travels, you’re welcome to stay here in the condemned forest, I would like to provide you with a room, but my parts will have no place to stay, however you’re welcome to use the shower to wash up, and if the weather’s to bad, you can set up camp in the garage loft, I know it may sound a little crude to others, but I’m the guy that lived in a tend, cleared a forest, and built a house 175 miles away! Before the well was installed (first thing) I drank and cooked from 5 gallon containers of water, and used “nasty” swamp water to shower with (homeade hot water heater), in the cold (when I showered) I used a 30’000 BTU propane heater to stop my nuts from freezing in the wind!
