I just left my school, from 5 pm until midnight my classroom was rocking out to some metal mix on you tube.

God, 7 hours of moving paper, grading, making centers, making copies and checking supplies for tomorrow’s lesson. at 8am the school day begins, bring it!

Hitman basically linked a lot of my favorite s~~~.

If you have not seen the old Cartoon Movie called Heavy Metal that Rorschach linked, then do so, it was a big deal to a lot of us here when we were kids. The 81 version, they made another one in 2k I think…

Camacho, some of us older guys may like the stuff you linked in the OP, but really that was at the end of the great rock era. The Hair band era was where it all died due to commercialism. Real rock died and became arena poprock at some point in the mid 80’s or so. S~~~, everything got crazy corporatized around then. The really good stuff is the s~~~ Hitman linked. Stuff from the late 60’s to early 80’s is the best. I am a record collector, I have much of the stuff linked in this thread on Vinyl.

    1970

    1971

UFO was a weird group, their first two albums were of the “Space Rock” genre. Very cool for it’s day. They later morphed into a gold old early heavy metal band, sorta. I can only imagine being high/drunk or whatever in the early 70’s listening to UFO 1 and 2 and being completely blown away, it was a little before my time though…

I can fill this thread up for hours if needed, but will leave it at that for now.

Great concert from their non-makeup years.

Total 80’s kid, came of age in the 80’s and can’t get enough of the music. Iron Maiden was my favorite (much longer than the 80’s I know) but I was into all things metal/hair during the 80’s. I still get a kick out of things like seeing Dee Snider on TV or on the radio. Scorpions, Van Halen, Poison, Ratt, Winger… the list goes on and on…

No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.

KMFDM is the best for me.

    Anarchy:

    Megalomaniac:

    Juke-Joint Jezebel:

    Blitzkrieg:

    Ultra: (Anime previews)

    Sturm And Drang:

This is my guilty music pleasure.

Loved the actual music. The lyrics, however, are complete mangina / Cuck / pussy on a pedestal / etc.

Funny how nobody has really mentioned MetallicA, other than Kirk Hammet playing in Exodus. They are the best band to come out of the 80’s, and they didn’t have any dopey love songs.

I would have loved to have seen them live back then. I have seen them several times since the 2000’s and they still kick f~~~ing ass every show.

I never got into the hair/glam like Def Leppard or Quiet Riot. It was always bands like Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maixden that I was and still am into.

Big Iron Maiden and Judas Priest fan here, Steeb! Metallica is so-so, just like Motorhead. I do dig the whole hair/glam stuff (Twisted Sister, WASP, Ratt, Motley Crue, etc).

We used to cruise and booze listening to Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC, and Van Halen. We’d have keg parties with 50 people crammed in a house. The wenches were not all obese too. The 80s were the end of an era of relative freedom to do as you will. I remember once seeing two cops passing a joint between squad cars back then.

Even the pop music which I used to hate due to being a metal head was vastly superior to today’s. Everything sounds the same these days. One sound to control them all.

Even the unknown bands put out great stuff.

guns and roses took almost 10 years to put out their first album.
sabbath took 3 days to record ‘paranoid ‘.the album..

I certainly prefer the 70s stuff, I think they were just better musicians back then. Zeppelin, Slade, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, you can just imagine those guys jamming for the sheer joy of it, not just to rehearse or record. Go back further to Cream or Hendrix or Jeff Beck and you’ve got the great musos of history. The 80’s had some fine musos, like Slash or the Van Halen boys, but ensembles that could jam for 20 minutes on stage and hold you enthralled? Not so much, imho. And I have to say, the big fans of Bon Jovi, Scorpion etc I have met over the years have been women…

Anyways, here is my contribution – enjoy.

I saw Alcatrazz warm up for Ted Nugent back in 1984.
