I wanted to post this video a while ago but couldn’t find again until now.

    Motor heads enjoy the video!

Very interesting concepts and as usual MEN ARE AMAZING!

Some of these ideas are not necessarily new or unknown. The spinning engine (the Clerget Rotary) was actually used in WWI aircraft like the Sopwith Camel.

The NAPIER DELTIC ENGINE was an opposed piston design used to power railway locomotives many years ago. The cylinders were arranged in a ‘trident’ type configuration with three crankshafts.

If you really want to see something interesting, check out the Bristol ‘sleeve-valve’ engines that powered many second world war British aircraft. They were very powerful engines because you could rev the s~~~ out of them. Having no valves means no ‘valve float’.

We sometimes tend to forget how smart some of these engineers were back in the day. They came up with this stuff and they did it all without the help of computers… 😀

One has to WONDER How Many Women were involved in CREATING any such engineering marvels ??

I think 0 might be the correct answer………..

Not necessarily so. It was a female engineer who designed the carburetor modification that helped prevent the Rolls Royce Merlin engine from cutting out due to high negative G load combat maneuvering… 😀

The Napier Sabre 24 cylinder H configuration sleeve valve engine was about as complex and sophisticated as a piston engine could get. It was powerful but apparently it was a real bitch to maintain.

It was after that that the engineers said “F~~~-it. Let’s build jets or something else now”!

And there are some more interesting concepts:

"I need men, real men, men with balls, certainly not sissies. I would never ask them to take an enemy position, but I insist that they follow me to that position. If you are one of those men, raise your hand." Napoleon Bonaparte
