Been doing a lot of research on this caliber and finally decided to make it mine. Truly outstanding woods/big game protection round. Here’s hitchock 45 doing a demonstration. Just awesome…

The Marlin is Good, but check out the Henry. (And) if yo want to save money on ammo get the reloading die and get to work you’ll save a bundle.

I did Pete. I have purchased the Henry in 44 mag as a gift for someone in the past.

However, I want the sideloading gate and don’t really dig the tube loading from the front that Henry has. That was the reason. But, Henry are fine rifles for sure.

    God bless peace and freedom.

HA HA BUT yes there is a BUT. Over time the Marlin and other side gate loaders develop a jam issue. What happens is the the ejector spring gets bent out of shape and you’ll find it doesn’t want to feed properly. Its an easy fix BUT just so you know. The Marlin 1896 is REALLY prone to this problem. just saying!

Point of order: It won’t go into full battery BECAUSE when he built it from the kit they include a pair of rubber O rings to fit around the ejector spring and it becomes too tight. the fix is discard the rings. and it works fine.

that’s good to know, man. thanks for the heads up. In that case, I’m going to have some of that spring in spare parts stored away, then.

Nice gun. AR-10s can actually be reliable pieces of equipment. Even though some look down at them because of concern for reliability vs the SCARs or M1A etc. The AR has certainly come along way in the last decade…love em.

    God bless peace and freedom.
