Between, Mr. Crowley’s defeat from a socialist outsider, which is what Ms. Ocasio-Crotez is, and the Government Union Dues rulings today, these are body blows to the democrat party coffers. While these are not death blows to the democrat party, they are going to hurt. Mr. Crowley was Pelosi’s right hand man on Congress. The plan was for him to replace Pelosi, which is not happening now. He was a big fundraiser for the democrat party. Him and the lose of union dues are going to financially harm the democrat party.

While Mr. McConnell has been a a bit of a fence sitting on President Trump’s requests, after this his wife will push him to be full on board the Trump Train.

In addition, Mr. McConnell canceling the Senate August recess is going to hurt the democrats in the Senate, but also the democrat party because the Senate democrats will not have time to raise campaign donations for the democrat party.

All this combined with the democrat party fracturing over calls for violence against Trump supporters is causing the democrat party to come apart at the seems.

This hurts the democratic party for sure, but I see it more of a sign that people are frustrated with the old guard on both sides than just a weakening of the democrats. The republics are rather fractured themselves, torn between pleasing the media, lobbyist, and the voting base. There have been calls to vote out the old and bring in the new on the Republican side as well.

Overall it’s a good thing. The less impact corporations, media, and money have on election results, the better.

This result was really not surprising as he was no longer viewed as relevant to the people electing him. His loss to the Democratic party will indeed be severe, but his electoral base were not looking at the party but personal issues within the area.

Some kind of limit has to be put in place, if not then candidates will have to either be elected because of the Party or their appeal to the electorate.
