Well, to start with…this is a real pain-in-the-buns disease!! My x-ray tech came back from vacation only to have Public Health quaranteened her x 2 weeks……tough to get x-rays when the technologist is quaranteened (she’s well).
In Canada, in spite of what you hear about closing borders, flight personnel, air crew, trucks and trains that cross the border are not banned.
Tourists are… because we are worried about hospital bed capacity.
Statisticians say USA needs 1.9 Million ICU beds, since we are 1/10th the USA population….that’s a whopping 190,000. USA has 95,000 beds Canada 3,388 not nearly enough.
In the forthcoming emergency, I wondered if a sleep apnea monitor will stave off the ventilator need in 1/3 to 1/2 the patients…a reasonable anesthesia question.( I still can’t get an answer but it is my idea….round up all the old units you can).This is an exponential curve for a good ten weeks. Not a good time for a heart attack or stroke patient since they need treatment as well. Co-morbid conditions raise it (mortality rate) to 8% for diabetes 13.5% for heart attack, 8.9% for hypertension. Kids get minimal illness 60+ different story. Consider that Bernie Saunders, Joe Biden and Donald Trump are over 60….wouldn’t even qualify for a respirator in Milan!!
We hope doctors here don’t have to choose between heart attack victim and pneumonia as to who gets the golden ventilator. I’m front line in attack and not everybody gets a CT scan …we will be x-ray only when the sick population need explodes.

Schools are closed here (Alberta) until September. The kids are unknowing vectors, not sick, but spread like crazy. It is not only travel.

Just go early. I was at my grocery store today within the first half hour of it opening. They had pretty much everything except hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes. Yes, even toilet paper. The other thing they were out of was pasta, except for any alternative types. Chick pea, whole wheat. The stuff that is the least healthy was pretty much gone. I’m pretty sure that says something about the average American.
