We have restored threads and replies ( between 4:42AMPST and 5:45 AM PST) and attributed to their authors posted at exactly the right minute in time:

It was our internal error trying to change older avatar references to HTTPS instead of HTTP. Because it caused a panic (and we have already asked people upload their avatars WAY too many times) we weren’t about to do it AGAIN. So to solve the problem IMMEDIATELY…. we reverted the site to exactly how it was at 4:42AM PST – losing 1 hour of posts.

ALL replies in that time period have now been restored in exact chronological order. Including this topic.

I think I can speak, without fear of contradiction

I apologize for my brief absence. Studying and work have forced themselves to the forefront of my time. I’m definitely glad I found this thread, I was a bit worried that my absence resulted in me somehow becoming a mere guest here. Anyhow.. looks, like I’ll have to re-upload the image once I get a chance. No love lost here, seems as though it was just an oops on the admin side as they try to cram more love into the site (I particularly dig the ‘new’ post interface, it’s a hell of a lot easier on the eyes). With that said, looks like I’ve got plenty of reading to catch up on…

There have been some attempts on our site in the last 2 weeks where we went dark for a big block of time – the longest being something like 30 hours. We didn’t sleep until we were back. The attempts were serious and their aim was to wipe the entire site out… all because some unwelcome t~~~ was booted and she really didn’t like that. To get us back – 5 times – with almost no losses was a goddam miracle and some avatars went astray in the process. We even managed to salvage posts and new members joined in that time…. and I personally restored members invested time by reposting threads as them – MANUALLY and even as many replies as possible – down to the exact time they were posted. If we can rebuild a site, our members can upload another avatar in the event of a loss like that.

Furthermore on August 16th, we made a significant move to HTTPS and this is explained in our privacy policy, so taking a moment to upload a new avatar will also help ensure it is stored within the https:// protocol.
