I agree with the comments above about cheaters always justifying their cheating. It’s so disgusting. I’ve heard a guy say, “there’s always three people responsible for infidelity.” As if anyone deserves to be cheated on. Just break up first.

I wonder if this guy could have picked up on signs that the relationship was sour. I don’t want to be too hard on men and put an unfair amount of the responsibility on us, but for our own self interest we have to be highly perceptive. It’s possible he missed out on warning signs because his perception was distorted by wishful thinking or sunk cost (“all the plans we made”).
