Relative to a desktop computer, these devices are costly to purchase relative to what one receives, and require an odious monthly payment for telephone calls and internet usage. Furthermore, the audio quality of the telephone call is inferior to that of a landline.

Skype costs roughly $12/mo for unlimited telephone calls in the Untied States and Canada.

Unless someone is bleeding, there is no reason why one cannot wait twenty or thirty minutes until one is at an office or an available telephone.

2) Their screens are small

The average tablet’s screen size is about 8″. Compared to twice this for a laptop, or three-fold for a desktop monitor, it will surely result in eye damage from reading significantly smaller text.

3) They are addictive

A study conducted by the University of Darby suggests that mobile telephone use is addictive, and that it begets narcissistic behaviour.

The study was informed by 256 self-selected smartphone users who responded to an online survey. That is an admittedly small sample from which conclusions can be drawn. But it seems to do little besides confirm what some have already suspected: people can be addicted to their smartphones, and the devices can encourage narcissistic behaviors.

Of those whom I know that are foolish enough to own a mobile telephone, they cannot go for a minute without fiddling with it.

4) They are beneath a man’s dignity

To give others the option, especially one’s superiors, the option to contact one during times that are ostensibly private e.g. driving, bathroom, &c is an affront to one’s dignity. A man who is at others’ beck and call at all hours is a slave who has no time for himself. That is why I insist that people e-mail me: so that I reply to them at my leisure, not at their convenience.

Conclusion

Mobile telephones and similar devices are worthless in that the services they provide are shoddy and vestigial. They are deleterious to eyesight and mental health, and their use is beneath a proud, honourable man. I never owned one, nor will I ever own one because I am not an imbecile addicted to overpriced gadgets.

I don’t use facebook, twitter, or social media on the computer OR the cell phone.  Cell phones contribute to narcissistic behavior in individuals already prone to it, I don’t regard them as the CAUSE… I haven’t started taking selfies since the company issued me my cell…  I will say, if you are required to be on call, DEMAND your employer pay for it.  You can use your cell for learning & self improvement; when I’m in line I like to read the WSJ or NYT, rather than text messaging bimbos.  At 44, I’m a little too old and wise for the latter, anyway.

I dropped the landline years ago, voice over IP is better — I get e-mails of any voicemail so I can check it easily from anywhere.

Sure, tablets are overpriced BUT I like to lay in bed & read the newspaper and books on it.  My Mom has one she uses to read large print novels.  Like most consumer goods, though, a lot of people just want to buy one to show off.

One of the best things a man (or woman) can do is save and invest 70 or 80% of their income in their 20’s.  I’d say buy, don’t rent, but that was a better idea when I was in my 20’s than now, haha.  I saved at that level, and was a millionaire at 30.  And I’m not some CEO or something, just a lowly Engineer.  Of course, very few men and even fewer women have the discipline to do that.  Does leasing a car or buying a new one every 3 or 4 years really give you that much enjoyment vs being able to retire 10 or 15 years earlier?  I drive a 2009 Saturn sedan.  Few goods depreciate faster than a car when it drives off the lot… Buying new is a bad idea…

I’d also disagree about eye damage, at least in my case, I hold the tablet much closer to my eyes than the laptop.  Then again, I’m typing this on a TV in my bedroom which is 4′ diagonal or so… so maybe the tablet destroyed my eyes, or playing too much Atari when I was growing up.  Or too much p0rn.  So I do like a big screen, sometimes, haha.

I really like this site, I never had a name for MGTOW, but it was how I played it in my 20’s.  Some comments are mysogynistic but many others speak truth; I know many divorced men who have been destroyed financially, and it is woe man that usually initiates it.  Men are treated as utilities or success objects.  How few women I dated that would pay for half or all of dinner?  If they want to be equals, pay for it.  Some did pay half if they were in the stratosphere of earnings (e.g. doctors), but that’s about it.  Hypergamy — a word I never knew until recently — but that explains the behavior of many females.  My best friend’s ex-wife calling me up years after I’d last seen her saying she invented something & needed me to patent it (she just wanted to bed me & marry up to a good blue bill beta provider — hey I’m getting with the lingo!), ex girlfriend wanting to hit me up after her sugar daddy croaked ten years after we’d last spoken… What percent of men collect allmymoney (alimoney) vs women? I think it’s 5% or something? But I’ll post my story later.

Also the kinds of operating systems on these devices are locked down(no control), you’re completely dependent on these “apps”, which are basically black boxes and even if you can still find a way to jailbreak the device, it’s still difficult to get them to do anything beyond what they were intended.

Cipher, about bleeding… I hate touch screens man. What if you bleed so badly (say, from the hand) touch screens become inoperable because of your wet, bloody fingers? I can just see it now… arteries slashed open and the f~~~ing UI not respronding properly while you try to call 9-1-1. If your battery isn’t dead to begin with.
