So now let’s just say out of that 60k a year, you end up with like 38k a year to live off…but wait…you’ve got to pay your student loans, your health insurance, and hopefully are smart enough to save something for retirement before you figure out what you really have left to live off. Rent alone on a small apartment in a semi decent area is going to cost you 900 bucks a month. When you have higher than average property taxes you get higher than average rents. Then suddenly…you have a stroke of genius…if the government subsidized some of those things for you, life would be easier. Problem is they raise your taxes to hand out those subsidies and in the end you are worse off than before. The only people that make out are those that weren’t contributing to begin with. Like I said, you sound young, after a few years of being a contributor you will realize how foolish it is to support an expensive, big, and bloated government.
Actually that really depends on many factors rather then just 1/3 of your income going to Government. Often Progressive tax systems state X money over Y is taxed at a higher rate, and then over Z etc.
